There are three cross country running cousins in our family. They all have their conference meets this week followed by Sections for the HS kids and Regions for Blake. If you think the runners are the only ones who get nervous at the meets and a super workout after the gun, false! CC fans are dedicated 😉. David had his conference race last night. He earned All-Conference honors plus the Sabres were team champs. Mnmilesplit.com interviewed the team. The moms were very tempted to make our appearance in their video like they did for their teammate last month. We resisted the temptation although the boys would have thought it was funny. My mom sent me this photo that illustrates how enthusiastic the fans are. She titled it "with a little help from my mom." I remember feeling like I could get him going faster with gestures. Why?!?!?! Don't know. Since David is a senior, I'm sure he knows to follow the white line.
The heart art of the CC season is very busy for parents. The other captain parents and I put on a spaghetti dinner the night before the race (about 90 people), then the whole team plus families gathered for pizza after the race. Next week, we will be cooking up lasagna for the Section runners. It's good that most of us either run or work out. We need to keep up our stamina. Blake will have his last NSIC cross country meet this weekend. His races are 5 miles instead of the 5K the HS kids run. The extra distance adds a different dimension to the race. Blake loves his races the longer the better. Go Bulldogs! My next blog post will be a quilt camp preview. I think we are all getting excited for a weekend away to sew, run, rest and laugh. In the meantime, CC Mom is my #1 job!
