I can be something of a worry wart by nature. I really have to tame the "what-ifs" that creep into my thoughts on a daily basis. I can usually rationalize my fears by considering what is the worst that could happen and also what giving into the worry makes me give up. For instance, running in the dark at 5:00 am scares lots of people. I have to think about what NOT running means to me and get myself out there armed with reflectors and a head lamp. I also figure that murderers are out late and sleeping at 5:00 am. Might be crazy, but it works for me! There is a dam along the Mississippi River on my regular route. I always suspected that it might be dangerous at the bottom of the dam, but recently found this sign that made me very cautious of the dam area. The thought of being trapped in an everlasting cartwheel should be enough to keep folks away from the dam! Instead of worrying about the dark, I can just focus on steering clear of the river.
What scares you just a little in your running and how do you talk yourself out of it? Have safe and happy runs this week! Missee

I'm afraid of the dark. I always keep a flashlight in my pocket. Stay away from the river, Missee! :)

Hay trailers are bad! A friend told me a bale fell off in a local roundabout recently. No one was hurt, but everyone had to exit the roundabout to avoid hitting it!!!🙈 Those things are never tied down properly.
