Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had fun and relaxing weekend! Having the Super Bowl in Minnesota was pretty exciting. Probably everyone knows someone who served as a volunteer or was a part of the festivities in some way. Our family had a quiet, mini Super Bowl party in our family room with hot dogs, chips, and chocolate frosted doughnuts with sprinkles. Nothing says party like sprinkles, right? Although my Sunday ended with the Super Bowl, it started with a nice long walk on the treadmill. I run six days per week and take one recovery day. The recovery day will become even more important as the milage of the long run increases each week of my marathon training program. I like to take a long walk the day after long runs. It seems to combat stiff and sore muscles. I run six days and take one day off per week. (In all honesty, if I didn't hold myself to a strict schedule, I'm afraid that I wouldn't run at all.) Although that works for me, there are many other schools of thought on this. Please feel free to share your exercise schedule by completing the survey below. Happy Running! -Stephanie

Thanks to Missee for her post on running fuel (aka snack time). Eating while running is probably my least favorite part of marathon training. For one thing, it doesn't taste good to me. You will never find me eating a running energy gel for a mid-afternoon snack. Also, I am not hungry while I am running. However, fueling while running is incredibly important. Without fueling regularly while running, I wouldn't be able to keep my energy up. I had a five mile run on my training schedule for today. My running friend and I met up at 6:00 am for a regular run. When she and I parted, I checked my watch and I was already at 5.25 miles. After arriving home, I saw that I ended up with 5.85 miles. It went well. Next week's long run will be nine miles. Yikes! I snapped these photo just before my run. The darkness and icy roads are getting a bit old. Spring... I am ready for you!
Wishing you all a happy Saturday! Happy Running! -Stephanie |
