D and I have now been in Wyoming for 4 days with his team. This camp is very physically grueling with the kids running twice daily. Parents are not quite willing to run that much. It is hot with afternoon temps in the low 90's. I do not care to run in heat, but the extremely low humidity helps make it tolerable. Since I haven't been running consecutive days for a while, I opted to bike yesterday. D said, "Good choice, Mom." There were some pretty giant hills that made my legs really burn! Here is D and a friend after their run. After the run, we saw a bull moose in the meadow. Super cool! The rest of the day included volleyball, swimming and a flashlight relay on the track after dark. Some of us parents walked while the kids ran, so we did rack up some steps. Today I ran with the kids. I feel really out of shape between a reduced amount of running the past few months plus the altitude. The current score would be: Mountains 2, Missee 0. Many of the kids are also struggling, so I can be useful running with and encouraging them. Here are some views on the run. We followed the run with a picnic and hike. There were options for a harder or easier hike. I was advised to choose easy due to a recent injury. I'm glad I did--it was plenty treacherous for my taste. Here are some views. Tomorrow will be another run plus a hike. This hike is on a less perilous path. I'm enjoying spending this week with D and working to regain my fitness. Keep cool and happy running! Missee
