My son recently fried his phone when he flooded his waders while hunting. I applaud his extreme patience trying to dry it out with lights and rice. Even so, the phone never came back to life. His new one came today and he was delighted to get it activated. Having him without a working phone was inconvenient for all of us. He couldn't communicate with friends and we couldn't reach him to check on him. Back when I was a kid, we just had to be trusted...maybe we earned that trust, maybe not. It does make me wonder if we are too dependent on our phones and instant communication.
I rarely carry my phone while running. I've tried to guard that time for being present while running. However, there are some things phones can do that would be helpful on the road.

You girls earned our trust. I have always been very proud of you. It was nice to hear "the Rentz girls are such nice girls ". I remember one of the matriarch of Wadena tell me one day. "So you are the mother of the Rentz girls. You should be proud ".

I had to laugh when phones rang 3x at church last night. We thought of your story and smiled! :)
