We went to Nebraska to visit my husband's side of the family for a few days. During our travels, we usually try to see one of the sites of Omaha. On Friday we spent the afternoon in the Old Market, an area near downtown with fabulous restaurants and unique shops. Not too far from the Old Market is the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. This bridge, built in 2008, crosses the Missouri River bridging Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. The kids and I had done a little research before visiting Bob the Bridge. You can find Bob's website here. The video blog is pretty clever. We liked the information about the bridge and Bob's jokes. We also discovered how to go "bobbing" on the bridge. Bobbing is standing with one foot in Nebraska and one foot in Iowa. Here are my children bobbing and my husband standing in his home state of Nebraska. The bridge is pretty spectacular. It is 0.9 K long and in the middle, you can feel a slight sway. Bob the Bridge was a fun to see, free to visit, and a good reason to take a short walk. My husband and I also managed to fit in a some running while visiting Omaha. Running in a city has a downside for me...curbs. I don't like the to stop for traffic or go up and down curbs. During this visit, we ran on a path near a creek. It was great! The only traffic we met were other runners, walkers, and bike riders and no curbs.

Bobbing looks fun! Did the kids get the stickers? Did you find any fun places to refuel after your .9K marathon?
