Today is National Donut Day. Who doesn't love a good pastry from time to time? When the kids were smaller, there was an incredible bakery near the farm, so Mom would order up an insane number of sweet rolls for the weekend. She ordered so often that the bakery owner knew how she liked her frosted donuts on a tray and would loan her a tray to carry them home! Super yummy! Now all my kids eat gluten free, but we still enjoy a GF Donut when we can. Our two favorites are Kinnikinik chocolate covered or the fresh ones from Coborns Bakery. To burn off those sweet treats, I am increasing my running with good results. This week, I have been using the interval timer on my watch to beep every 3 minutes. I run at the start of each interval until I feel anything odd in my hamstring, then walk until the timer beeps again. Today, I ran more than 2 straight minutes a few times and once all the way through 3! Charlie quickly caught on to the beep=run and looked excited when he heard it. We did ten intervals the last two days with plans to kick it up to over an hour for our long walk/run Saturday. I am feeling pretty positive about my chances to participate in the half in just over two weeks. I decided to ice my feet this morning. Charlie tested the ice water for me... It was just right and felt good on my feet. Hope you enjoy a donut today on this major holiday and get a chance to enjoy a run. Happy running--Missee
